Fireworks Over the Mississippi Will Light Up Alton
(Alton, IL – June 23, 2015) There’s no better place to celebrate the July 4th holiday weekend than Alton with its annual “Fireworks Over the Mississippi” display which will be held Friday, July 3, at the Liberty Bank Alton Amphitheater.
This spectacular fireworks display is the only one which will be shot over the Mississippi River in the St. Louis metro region this year and is a must see for visitors of all ages. Admission to the amphitheater for the fireworks is free although special VIP tickets are available and include a private concession area, restrooms and one VIP parking spot close to the amphitheater. The VIP tickets are $25 per person and may be purchased at the Alton Visitors Center and through MetroTix.com.
Great food, beverages, activities for children and live music will highlight the pre-fireworks celebration. Kicking off the entertainment will be a concert by the Alton-based band The Wherehouse Project at 6 p.m. The Wherehouse Band is known for its unique rock n roll style. The United States Air Force Band of Mid America will take the stage at 7:50 p.m. featuring a blend of popular, classical and patriotic selections .
The gates open at 5 p.m. There will be a break between the band concert and the fireworks. The fireworks will begin at approximately 9:30 p.m. Street parking is available in downtown Alton and parking lots at Riverfront Park and William Street next to the Ardent Mills building. People may also park on Riverlands Way in West Alton to catch the fireworks display.
Additional fireworks displays are scheduled through the Meeting of the Great Rivers Region beginning Sunday, June 28 and running through July 4.
The annual Fireworks at St. Louis Regional Airport will be held Sunday, June 28 and is sponsored by Cornerstone Church. The festivities begin at 5 p.m. and will include crafters, vendors, games and entertainment for all ages. The fireworks will begin at 9:15 p.m. Admission is free. The St. Louis Regional Airport is located at 8 Terminal Dr., East Alton, IL.
Godfrey’s Family Fun Fest will be held Saturday, July 4 at Glazebrook Park, 1401 Stamper Lane. Festivities begin at 5 p.m. and run through the fireworks display which will begin at around 9:15 p.m. Vendors, inflatables, a climbing wall, zip line, cow train, games, concessions, arts and crafts, Mike the Balloon Guy and BeBe the Face Painting Clown will be on hand to celebrate Independence Day. Come out early for entertainment and food specials in Grafton with its annual Saturday, July 4 celebration. A fireworks display will be held on Main Street in this river community along the Great River Road. Fireworks begin at dusk.
Jerseyville’s annual fireworks will begin at dusk, Saturday, July 4 at the American Legion, 300 Veterans Memorial Parkway.
