Local fashion designer Lillian Bates, hair stylist Conya Cowan and body art models are joining together to create an unusual fashion show to benefit Jacoby Arts Center. Heads & Threads, a fashion show and cocktail party, will begin at 7:00 p.m., Saturday, November 14, in the main gallery of Jacoby Arts Center.
“This is a fashion show like none other. There will not be a runway. The models will be posing on pedestals as art works themselves,” said Cowan, owner of Fringe Hair Salon.
“Each of the models is elaborately tattooed, like a canvas. I have designed clothing to accentuate their unique body art. Dramatic hair styles, expertly arranged by Conya, will enhance the high fashion art form,” said Bates, owner of By Design. “An elaborate and high energy show, this one is not to be missed.”
Sun Smith-Foret’s beaded jewelry will adorn the 15 models who will don 30 original fashions throughout the evening. Several of the tattoo artists will be on hand to discuss their work.
Tickets are $35 each; $60 per couple. Guests will enjoy live bossa nova and jazz music, be treated to elegant hors d’oeuvres with access to a cash bar and the fashions inspired by body art and created uniquely for this Jacoby Arts Center fundraiser.
Tickets may be purchased at By Design, 136 Front Street, Fringe Hair Salon, 124 Front Street and Jacoby Arts Center, 627 East Broadway, or online at www.jacobyartscenter.org. For more information, call (618) 462-5222 or visit www.jacobyartscenter.org.
