Join The Nature Institute at the Heartland Prairie at Gordon Moore Park in Alton for these bimonthly hikes. Walks begin at 5:30 p.m. and will focus on identifying native plants and birds. Guests will discuss the plants in the newer sections at the observation deck until approximately 6:00 p.m.
Be sure to wear comfortable shoes and bring water, binoculars and a plant identification book. Drinks and snacks will be served after the walk. For more information, please visit www.TheNatureInstitute.org.
At 5:00 p.m. on the nights of the walks, we will also be offering a short, hands-on class explaining how to start and maintain a prairie. The class will focus on identifying native plants and eliminating invasives. Bring questions, protective gloves and clippers if possible.
