MSCC to host TEDucation: “Why We Have Too Few Women Leaders”

Edwardsville, IL – On Thursday, January 8 at 7:00 the Main Street Community Center will host Desiree Bennyhoff, Edwardsville/Glen Carbon Chamber of Commerce President & CEO and Kerry Smith, Edwardsville/Glen Carbon Chamber of Commerce Membership Director for a TED talk presentation. TED talks are a free way to educate yourself on the web. These lectures range in length from 10-25 minutes and can be found on a vast array of topics ranging from science to anxiety reduction and are available at TED.com.
The group will watch the video “Why We Have Too Few Women Leaders” presented by Facebook’s COO Sheryl Sandberg. In the video Sheryl Sandberg looks at why a smaller percentage of women than men reach the top of their professions. After the video, a discussion will be facilitated regarding the topic. The Community Center is interested in starting a monthly TED club where TED Talks will be shown, followed by a discussion. Suggestions of future topics will be accepted and appreciated. TEDucation programs are presented through a partnership between the Center, SIUE Office of Education and Lewis & Clark Community College.
