MSCC to host TEDucation: Starting Conversations about TED Talks
Wednesday, September 17
Edwardsville, IL – On Wednesday, September 17 Main Street Community Center will host Elizabeth Grant, Professor of Speech at Lewis and Clark Community College for a TED talk presentation. TED talks are a free way to educate yourself on the web.
These lectures range in length from 10-25 minutes and can be found on a vast array of topics ranging from science to anxiety reduction and are available at TED.com. This first session will provide an overview of TED and highlight some of the history and features of this free site. We will watch Lizzie Velasquez’s talk on “I Choose to be Happy” and have a discussion about her fascinating story on being called “The Ugliest Woman in the World” and how she chooses to live her life despite a rare and debilitating disease. The Community Center is interested in starting a monthly TED club where TED Talks will be shown, followed by a discussion.
Suggestions of future topics will be accepted and appreciated. Contact the Community Center: 656-0300 or email@example.com for more information!
