We at AdVantage News continue to be overjoyed and overwhelmed at the positive response from our readers. We are so happy you enjoy the attractive layout, bold colors and exciting and informative articles about our Greater Alton community. From day one, our goal was to be YOUR newspaper … for the community, about the community, and by the community.
That commitment is as strong as ever. We are a publication dedicated to showcasing the many positive aspects of our community, and our feature stories are geared toward bringing a smile to your face as well as being educational and informative. We realize the news we report can’t always be “good,” but we believe within every news story lies a lesson, a chance to educate, an opportunity to find the silver lining … and maybe even make you take a moment to think.
This past weekend, I was out and about and asked for some feedback on how we are doing. The majority of the comments were in reference to our weekend print edition, and it got me thinking. We are so proud of our print edition, but that is only a part of AdVantage News. We have some really exciting things going on — some you may be aware of, and some you may not have known about … until now.
Over and over, people contact us with praise regarding our weekend print edition. We love the idea of bringing the community what it wants, and we want to make sure everyone is also aware of the constant stream of news being added to our website, www.advantagenews.com. The Greater Alton area is literally bursting with happenings and events … too much for a weekend print edition to possibly hold. A daily visit to our website will keep readers up to date on everything from fund-raisers to the inner working of city business to inspirational stories of hope and endurance about the people who live and work close by.
For anyone who does not get AdVantage News delivered to their mailbox, we have another option for you. Go to our website and click on the front page layout located on the left hand side, just under the news rotator. You can flip through the entire print edition online, page by page, quickly and easily. This allows you to share us with your friends and family who are out of town (or even out of state). We also have an archive where you can look through back issues and special sections.
We have heard many people say they buy weekend papers for the sole purpose of obtaining the advertisements local retailers insert into the edition. If you find yourself in that position, just go to our webpage at www.advantagenews.com and click on the “Sunday Circulars” section on the right hand side of the page. You can find the area’s best deals and sale prices ... for free!
Have you “liked” us on Facebook yet? It’s yet another opportunity for interaction and engagement, and a chance to see some of the more “quirky” stuff from AdVantage News you won’t find anywhere else.
Are we satisfied with where things are with AdVantage News? Certainly not! Any business that stops growing starts dying. We have so many exciting plans in the coming months that it keeps my head spinning. As always, we not only invite your suggestions and feedback, we WANT it. Call us, email us, come up and say hello when you see us out and about; this is YOUR newspaper, and we want to ensure it continues to reflect YOU. We are not going anywhere, and because of you, our loyal readers, it is only onward and upward from here.
