Jerry and Barbara Overton of South Roxana celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary June 26, 2015, with a renewal of their vows officiated by their grandsons Kyle Roberson and Brendan Overton, ordained ministers, with their family in attendance.
Jerry and the former Barbara Warren were married June 26, 1965, at the First General Baptist Church in East Alton with the Rev. George Daugherty officiating.
Jerry retired from Olin Works after 45 years as an adjuster. Barbara retired as the Chouteau Township Clerk after 20 years. They own Aunt Bee’s Cupboard Cakes & Catering.
They have two children — Lori Ann Roberson of Rosewood Heights and David Overton of Wood River. They have five grandchildren, Brendan and Layne Ardith Overton of Wood River; Jacob and Kyle Roberson of Rosewood Heights and Kaylee Ann Overton of Moody, Ala. They have one great-granddaughter, Penelope Jane Overton of Wood River. Son-in-law Mark Roberson is deceased.
They traveled to Tennessee and Southeast Missouri to visit with childhood friends.
