Noel “Butch” and Darlene (Jones) Rister recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a trip to the Smokey Mountains, Gatlinburg, Tenn., and Helen, Ga. This was followed by a family outing and dinner in St. Louis.
The couple were married on Oct. 22, 1966, by Father John Sohn at the former St. Patrick’s Church in Alton.
Butch retired from the Alton Fire Department as an assistant chief and then later retired from the State Fire Marshal’s Office, where he was an inspector.
Darlene was a secretary at the former Laclede Steel Company before quitting to raise their family.
The couple have two children, Tim Rister and wife, Susan, of Dow and Leigh Ann Kombrink of O’Fallon, Ill.
They have three grandchildren, Amanda Kombrink, Kyle Kombrink and Nicholas Rister.
