Roger and Mary Jo Wade will celebrate their 60th anniversary on June 10, 2016.
They were married in the First Christian Church on Second and Lorena in Wood River by the Rev. Porter Estes on June 10, 1956.
Roger worked for Tri City Grocery until 1973 and Mary Jo worked for Illinois State Bank in East Alton and then 1st National Bank in Alton until they ventured into their own business in 1973 in Upper Alton, The Wade’s Tack Shack and then Wade’s Western World. They ran their business until 1989, when Roger took a job with the Illinois Department of Transportation and Mary Jo had taken a job with Jefferson Smurfit Corp. Roger retired from Illinois Department of Transportation in 2008. Mary Jo retired from Jefferson Smurfit Corp. in 1994 and then went back to work in 1995 for Economy Boat Store in Wood River and retired from there in 2001.
They have lived in Fosterburg since 1968.
They will celebrate, by invitation only, with family and friends at a dinner hosted by Roger’s sister Sandra Walker.
