Home Instead Senior Care is planning a fund-raising event to find a cure for Alzheimer’s disease.
Alzheimer’s disease affects more than 5 million Americans and every 67 seconds someone in the United States develops Alzheimer’s. Many of Home Instead’s clients and families are affected by the disease. Alzheimer’s kills approximately 500,000 individuals each year, making it the sixth-leading cause of death in the United States.
Alzheimer’s is a diagnosis that can strike in the hearts of families. Research shows this disease will continue to increase in older adults and in 2050 the number of patients diagnosed with Alzheimer’s may reach 16 million.
The Home Instead Senior Care Team will be hosting a Quarter Auction at 6 p.m. Thursday, July 24, at the KC Hall in Carrollton. All proceeds from the auction will go to the Alzheimer’s Association. Dinner and an open bar will be available during the auction.
Home Instead is accepting donations for the event and looking for vendors interested in participating. For information, contact Cindy Cannon at Home Instead Senior Care, (618) 535-5206.
The Home Instead Senior Care team will participate in a Walk to End Alzheimer’s on Saturday, Sept. 20, in Springfield, Ill., sponsored by the Alzheimer’s Association. For information about the Walk to End Alzheimer’s, visit www.alz.org.
