Angels: Our Strange Neighbors is the title of a Bible study on angels that will be offered Wednesdays at 9 a.m. at Rosewood Heights Community Church, beginning May 7.
Pastor Ron Wenzel, who is also on the faculty at Brookes Bible College in St. Louis, will teach the class. Wenzel spent more than five years researching the Bible's teachings on angels, and his articles on the topic run periodically in AdVantage News.
“The subject of angels just doesn’t get discussed much in church,” Wenzel said. “This study will be a comprehensive look at what the Bible says angels are really like. It will be a surprising, fascinating discussion.”
Wenzel recently taught a condensed version of the study at Godfrey First United Methodist Church on Airport Road, and it was enthusiastically received by their members. Pastor Don Long participated in the class.
“The class helped expand my knowledge of angels in Scripture; it challenged my theology,” Long said. “It broadened my understanding of angels’ roles in God’s great plan, and it has equipped me to speak more intelligently on the subject of angels.”
“I feel like I now know ‘classified information’ about how the world is really working,” said Brenda Evans, also a member of the class.
The Bible study will begin at 9 and will last an hour. It is followed at 10 a.m. by a senior citizens exercise class, which features mild “band-resistance” exercise led by popular personal trainer April Hausman. The church is located just off Airline Drive, on East Rosewood Drive, just behind Corner Cuts Barber Shop.
“Both classes are free and open to the public,” Wenzel said. “People are welcome to walk in and join us, or they can call or email me for more information.”
