ALTON — The Jacoby Arts Center launches a Summer Music Series to showcase the diversity and range of regional talent starting on Friday, June 12. Doors will open at 7:30 p.m., with the performance set to begin at 8 p.m.
“The Jacoby Arts Center is proud and excited to present this Summer Music Series highlighting the tremendous talent from our area,” said Denny Scarborough, Jacoby’s president. “We are delighted to feature a variety of music by established and familiar favorites along side fresh, up-and-coming voices.
“A terrific new feature of Jacoby Arts Center’s Cabaret will be partnerships with local chefs, bakers and food purveyors with their delicious specialties,” Scarborough said. “The series will make Jacoby an exciting place to gather with friends and listen to live music on Friday nights.”
Singer-songwriter Chris Nathan, who recently relocated to the region from Nashville, will mark the series’ debut. Nathan’s sound is described as “soulful,” blending blues, gospel, R&B, country and hip-hop. In 2014, Nashville Lifestyles’ hailed Nathan as one of the area’s Top 25 Musicians to Watch.
“I don’t like to categorize my music because I have been influenced by multiple genres,” Nathan said. “I grew up in a family of musicians so I was always surrounded by instruments, and I just fell in love with all types of music at an early age.”
For the concert, Jacoby Arts Center is partnering with Maeva’s Coffee. Each performance will offer the opportunity to partner with a different local food purveyor. Food and drink are available at additional cost.
