EDWARDSVILLE – The Junior Service Club of Edwardsville/Glen Carbon proudly announced the recipients of its annual scholarship awards at the annual May Dinner Meeting at the Crystal Garden Banquet Center.
The scholarship recipients are Hanna Grace Beck and Betsy Taylor Cote, both of Edwardsville High School.
The JSC scholarship committee awards two $1,000 scholarships to qualified applicants from EHS and MELSH. The awards are given to female high school seniors who have exhibited exemplary character, scholarship and community service.
“One of the benefits of community service is that it builds a person’s character,” club President Julie Smith said. “It teaches you to communicate, to work as a team, and to take on leadership roles; all of these are skills that a person can use throughout their lives."
The club wishes the best to these recipients in their future endeavors and hopes that each will continue their involvement in the community.
