Karen Signorino of East Alton, who has been battling leukemia, was pleasantly surprised on Mother’s Day by her grandson.
Signorino was surrounded by her family; husband, Ross; and son and daughter-in-law, Denny and Kim Doerr.
Kadin Thompson, 6, surprised his grandma by playing the piano for her for the very first time at the Siteman Cancer Center. She was unable to attend his previous recital. After he played, he bowed to her and said, “That was for you, grandma. Happy Mother’s Day!”
Kadin’s mother, Kea Baker, had been planning the surprise, hoping Karen would be well enough to come to Siteman Center’s lobby.
