BETHALTO – Thanks to the Boys and Girls Club of Bethalto, the Mardi Gras celebration is far from over.
The 18th annual Help Kids dinner auction will be held this Saturday beginning at 5 p.m. at the Bethalto Knights of Columbus Hall, 400 N. Beau Chateaux.
“We have done this for many years,” site coordinator Mary Cox said. “It used to be a Valentine’s Day theme, but it has been changed to Mardi Gras, since this really is a celebration. We hope everyone comes and has a great time.”
The money raised will go toward the continued operation of programs at the Boys and Girls Club of Bethalto’s three locations: Bethalto, East Alton and Brooklyn, Ill. A United Way agency, the organization provides instruction and encouragement for children ages 6 to 18 through after-school programs such as the “power hour,” when students are given help with homework, and a variety of fun and games with a focus on learning.
The themed fund-raiser will begin with doors opening at 5 p.m., dinner at 6 p.m., and both silent and live auctions beginning at 7 p.m. Dinner will be catered by Geno’s 140 Club. Prizes include baskets with an assortment of game tickets, overnight stays, massages and more. A raffle featuring a treasure chest worth more than $500 will offer a 1-in-100 chance of winning.
“Everyone has been so generous,” Cox said. “We are so pleased and impressed.
“With the weather as awful as it has been, we hope people are ready to get out and have some fun, and this is the perfect opportunity.”
Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door. For more information, call (618) 377-6030 or visit the website at www.bgcbethalto.com.
