ALTON — Dave Foraker of True Blue Music Ministry will provide a free musical performance from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 12, at Senior Services Plus, 2603 N. Rodgers Ave.
Foraker spent time in a rehabilitation hospital after suffering a stroke in 1996. As a means of regaining his musical skills, he began entertaining the residents at a nearby nursing home. Before moving to the area, he performed at facilities in North Carolina and South Carolina.
Foraker will share his music, stories and songs to encourage, entertain and enlighten those around him whose physical limitations have presented challenges similar to the challenges he faced after his debilitating stroke.
The talented musician will be performing his own style of music, which he calls “Southern gospel stew, seasoned with blues and jazz.”
“Music can be a bridge to cross gaps in memories,” Foraker said. “Music is a vehicle used to deliver a message, and at the very least, entertainment. I attempt to bring some happy, pleasing music with encouraging messages to a variety of venues.”
Attendees are encouraged to listen, dance and sing. Reservations are not required for this event and all ages are welcome.
