The Illinois Department of Transportation Tuesday announced that Illinois 255 will be reduced to one lane in each direction from north of Interstate 270 to south of the Madison Avenue interchange near Wood River beginning June 2, weather permitting.
This closure is necessary to make approach surface corrections at various locations between I-270 and Madison Avenue. This work is expected to be completed by July 31.
The department asks that motorists be patient, reduce speed, watch for stopped traffic and use additional caution when traveling near and throughout this work zone.
IDOT also announced that traffic will be reduced to one lane on Livingston Drive, from Illinois 4 to the frontage road, just west of Livingston, beginning Wednesday, May 21, weather permitting.
Flagger and traffic control devices will be utilized to maintain two-way traffic to place an oil and chip surface treatment on the pavement. This work is expected to be completed by June 6.

Allow for extra time when traveling in this location and watch for stopped traffic. Additional signing and traffic control devices will assist motorists through the work zones.
