GODFREY — Local writer and director Leah Becoat is joining forces with the Office of Diversity and Student Engagement at Lewis and Clark Community College to present encore performances of the summer youth production “Back 2 the Playground.”
Show times will be at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, and 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 11, at Hatheway Hall auditorium at LCCC.
“Back 2 the Playground,” the sequel to 2013’s “Playgrounded,” is a family-friendly play focusing on a relevant and uplifting story line that Becoat calls “edutainment.”
“One of my actors, Charlette Jackson, who had never had prior experience before joining my summer play, got a lead role in an Alton High School fall play,” Becoat said. “Angelica Jones is an Alton Middle School student and she’s also participating in their fall play. I’m very proud of them in many ways; it validates my efforts. ‘Back 2 the Playground’ addresses topics such as bullying, inclusion, self-esteem and diversity.”
The play is appropriate for ages 10 and up. Adult tickets are $12; student tickets are $8. Group discounts are available by calling (618) 670-2395 or emailing email@example.com. Tickets are only available at the door, and doors open 30 minutes before showtime.
