Someone has to win — it might just be you.
The Superior Young Producer Scholarship Program is offered during the Illinois State Fair to 4-H and FFA members exhibiting in any of the following species at the fair: beef, sheep, swine, dairy and horses. This contest-driven scholarship requires that youth be a current exhibitor at the State Fair in the species for that contest. (For example, you must be exhibiting sheep at the current State Fair to compete in the sheep Superior Young Producer contest.)
Five overall winners in each species receive $1,000 scholarships. Contests may include judging, skill-a-thon/hippology stations, management test, meat identification, and/or quality assurance testing.
Applications are due before July 1. Go to the Illinois State Fair website, http://www.agr.state.il.us/isf/premium/, and download the Junior Livestock Book. The entry form is on page 45.
