Fox 2 News and Buffalo Wild Wings have formed a partnership for the Spirit Bracket Challenge.
For the past few years, Buffalo Wild Wings has hosted a fund-raising competition to allow schools to show off their school spirit while raising money for school programs.
To participate, schools must apply to the contest on the Fox2now website and be accepted into the "Saucy 16.” Buffalo Wild Wings participating locations set the competition dates and the game is on. Each Wednesday the schools compete by asking everyone to support their school by bringing fliers supplied online by Fox2 in to the chosen location and turning them in with their paid bills. Ten percent of each bill goes to the fund-raising total. The school that raises the most funds will move on to the next week’s bracket.
The EA-WR Oilers have taken part in this spirit challenge twice since it began. The first time the Oilers were beaten in the fourth round, called the "Flaming Four." This year, the Oilers entered the "Flaming Four" as the only Illinois school remaining in the challenge. They have risen from the hot sauce to face Immanuel Lutheran from St. Charles, Mo., on Wednesday, March 26, from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
To support the EA-WR Oilers, download the flier from fox2now.com source or pick one up at the East Alton-Wood River High school. Additional copies are available from EA-WR personnel at Buffalo Wild Wings on the date of the event.
In 2013, this program donated $15,766.29 to local schools.
