ALTON — The Workers Memorial Day Service to honor fallen union brothers and sisters will be at 7 p.m. Monday, April 28, at Gordon Moore Park, Illinois 140.
Every year on April 28, unions of the AFL-CIO and worldwide observe Workers Memorial Day. Each year thousands of workers are killed and millions more are injured on the job.
In 1970, Congress passed the Occupational Safety and Health Act, promising workers the right to a safe workplace. Unions have fought hard to help make that promise a reality, saving hundreds of thousands of lives and preventing millions of workplace injuries.
