The 2014 Illinois Aviation Conference will include an open house and ribbon-cutting to celebrate the opening of West Star Aviation’s new 47,000-square-foot maintenance facility.
EAST ALTON — St. Louis Regional Airport will host the 2014 Illinois Aviation Conference on May 13-14.
The event will bring together fixed-base operator executives and airport administrators from around the state for meetings, to present the Illinois Spirit of Flight Award, and to induct industry leaders into the Illinois Aviation Hall of Fame.
The group will hold meetings at the DoubleTree Hotel in Collinsville and approximately 80 of the attendees are expected to attend an open house and ribbon-cutting at St. Louis Regional to celebrate the opening of West Star Aviation’s new 47,000-square-foot maintenance facility.
“I am delighted to welcome the Aviation Conference attendees to our region,” said David Miller, airport manager at St. Louis Regional. “It is great that they can join us for the dedication of this new hangar and a celebration of the new jobs it brings to the region.”
The Illinois Aviation Trades Association, the Illinois Public Airports Association, and the Illinois Aeronautics Division of the Department of Transportation sponsor the 2014 Illinois Aviation Conference.
Hall of Fame inductees this year include James Bildilli, Frank Beagle, Marvin Campbell, Jeannie Hill and Carl Wheeler. At that ceremony, the Illinois Spirit of Flight Award will be presented to the Challenger Learning Center of Woodstock. Hall of Fame induction tickets can be purchased separate from the conference registration by contacting John Eckley at 309-530-2221.
In addition to sponsoring the conference, St. Louis Regional Airport continues to sponsor community events like Fireworks and an annual Fly In with one of the Metropolitan area’s largest car shows. For information visit the airport’s website at www.stlouisregional.com.
