GODFREY — Local country and Southern rock group The Glendale Riders will perform two George Strait tribute shows featuring 30 of his No. 1 hits as part of the Strait Country show at the Alton-Wood River Sportsmen’s Club.
The April 1 show is sold out but $15 tickets are available for the April 2 show.
“The April 1 show sold out within the first week, so we decided to add a second show,” Glendale Riders vocalist and guitarist Steve Schwegel said. “We were thrilled for the opportunity to do a second show after all the hard work it took to learn more than two dozen of George Strait’s songs. They are not the easiest songs to learn. After selling out so fast, we were glad the Sportsmen’s Club was available a second night.”
Performing together for more than a decade, the Glendale Riders take the stage 20 to 25 times per year to the delight of local fans.
“Most of our shows are private shows,” Schwegel said. “I think that is one reason people really like us; we are not overplayed and we do a great variety of music that people enjoy. We will perform the selected George Strait songs and then play about an additional hour of our more popular music that our fans have liked over the years.”
The doors will open at 7 p.m. and the band will take the stage at 8 p.m. The show is family-friendly and open to all ages.
Tickets can be purchased at the club, 3109 Godfrey Road in Godfrey, or through any band member. Information also is available on Facebook. Band members are Steve Schwegel on guitars and vocals, Jeff Bensman on guitar and vocals, Jared Bensman on fiddle and guitar, Jim Bensman on drums and vocals, and Chris Hammann on bass and vocals.
