EDWARDSVILLE — Edwardsville Township Supervisor Frank Miles Wednesday announced that the township will host a Touch-a-Truck event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 21, at Edwardsville Township Community Park, 6368 Center Grove Road in Edwardsville. This free event will give families the opportunity to explore vehicles they see every day and some that are rarely accessible.
“We are excited to offer this free event to the community. Name a child who wouldn’t love to climb aboard a fire truck, a police car, a big rig, or a bulldozer,” Miles said. “The Touch-a-Truck event will provide an exclusive opportunity for children to explore vehicles of all types – public service, emergency, utility, construction, transportation, and delivery – all in one place. Arch Helicopter will be landing during the event as well.”
Children will be allowed to touch, explore, and learn about their favorite vehicles in a safe, supervised environment. Accompanying personnel will teach the children about the equipment displayed and how these vehicles support community. Confirmed participants include emergency response vehicles from Edwardsville Police Department, Edwardsville Fire Department, and Glen Carbon Fire Protection District; a race car from Gateway Race Track; a solar-powered car from SWIC; a tractor from Sloan’s Implement; tow trucks from Cross Auto Body and Towing and S & K Repair Service; a utility truck from Ameren; a bus from Madison County Transit; and a dump truck, a back hoe, a front loader, and a mowing tractor from Edwardsville Township Road and Bridge.
Edwardsville Township includes the city of Edwardsville, village of Glen Carbon and unincorporated areas just outside of these two municipalities. The Township Supervisor’s office is located at 300 West Park in Edwardsville and is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Monday and Friday and from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
