The Troy Homecoming is fast approaching.
This event, sponsored by the Troy Lions Club, will be held in the Tri-Township Park on Thursday, July 24, through Saturday, July 26. This year’s theme is “A Salute to the Olympics” in honor of the participants in the Lions Club’s Office Olympics during Downtown Days. Thursday night will be completely family-friendly. Vendor stands will be open and the Boy Scouts will be selling food. No alcohol will be sold. Children’s festivities on Thursday evening will include the Children’s Parade at 6:15 pm. Sponsored by the Troy Jaycees, the parade runs through Tri-Township Park and is open to all children 12 and under. Children 6 and under should be accompanied by an adult and those 3 and under must be in a stroller, wagon or another kind of mini-float; however, no motorized or battery-powered vehicles greater than a lawn tractor may be used. The route runs eastbound for one-half mile on Wickliffe Street ending at the Senior Citizen Center, completely within Tri-Township Park.
Thursday night will include an appearance of The Reptile Man. Sponsored by Scott Credit Union, Serengeti Steve will present his Reptile Experience on Thursday night from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Be sure not to miss this and the many “hair-raising” moments.
All of the rides will be operating on Thursday evening as well from 5 to 9 p.m. “All You Can Ride” wristbands will be available once again. Each wristband is $20 and each purchase also provides an entry into a raffle for either a girls or boys bicycle. The drawing will be at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday and entrants must be present to win.
