We have some exciting “news” to pass on to you. Beginning this week, our loyal online readers have been receiving an evening email from AdVantage News, filled with the day’s community news along with upcoming events in a concise, easy-to-read format that literally takes seconds to navigate.
Now you can get local updates and sports from the Greater Alton area, the same news coverage you have come to expect from us, along with local business and entertainment features and FREE obituaries delivered right to your inbox every evening. The days of paperboys on bicycles delivering door-to-door may be a thing of the past, but that doesn’t mean your community can’t still be given to you to read about after dinner, between sitcoms, or even just before bed. Better yet, it’s there at no cost to you!
If you are not yet receiving our nightly email? Let us know … go to our website at www.advantagenews.com and fill out the QUICK and EASY form. Your name and email and you’re done … it’s that simple.
If you have already signed up, check your spam folder; some readers say that is where their email wound up. Remember to check “this is not spam” (or simply add email@example.com to your contacts/address book) so it will go into your inbox tomorrow.
Your weekend delivery of our popular print edition will not change, nor will its format. As I have said, our website (and now our email) provides content in a daily forum, while our print edition (what some are calling our “home edition”) offers the best of the week and features from our wonderful contributors in an attractive format you can flip through over coffee.
Side note: for anyone who submits events for our community calendar, make sure you are only submitting your event once. If an event appears several times on the calendar, we wind up deleting any extras, and there is a good chance the submission could be deleted altogether. We don’t want to take a chance that our readers could miss what you are promoting, so if you have any questions just give us a call at (618) 463-0612 and we can provide assistance.
Thank you so much for your feedback and encouragement and for allowing us to visit your homes; we are grateful for ALL of our readers!
