Greetings! I hope that you, our readers and advertisers all had a wonderful (and filling) Thanksgiving, and even those who were working through the holiday or holiday weekend still had the opportunity to take a moment and reflect on the people and things to be grateful for in their lives.
We at AdVantage News are definitely grateful for the wonderful support and feedback we have received from this community. The city has welcomed us with open arms and I think we have all come together to make a great team; this truly has become a community newspaper. Without your input and story leads, we would not be able to serve this area.
That being said, I wanted to let you know about some exciting changes for AdVantage News coming in the new year.
Since transitioning from a shopper to a newspaper last June, we have been proud to provide our print edition to every household in the Granite City, Pontoon Beach and Mitchell areas. This model for a newspaper is certainly unusual, and we think it is also effective and a pretty cool way for us to partner with the USPS to give all of the residents in our area a free community publication.
Now, we are able to also send our newspaper to the businesses in this delivery area, as well! You should have already noticed copies of AdVantage News arriving at the door of your shop or restaurant. If you are not receiving AdVantage News, contact your local post office and ask them why. We do not want you to miss an issue!
Change in publication schedule
Beginning with the Jan. 14 edition, AdVantage News will become a twice-monthly publication. We will continue to deliver on a weekly basis through Dec. 24, and then resume publication with the new schedule after the holidays.
Our online content will not change, nor will our daily email blasts.
With more days in which to prepare, this new print publication timetable will allow us to provide more in-depth features and a focus on quality, which leads to my next point:
Addition of content
With the new year comes more change. In addition to the great features we currently offer, we will be “stepping up” our appearance with more graphics, more color, and more of a “magazine” feel to our publication. I firmly believe that we can keep our readers informed about what is going on in the Granite City area and look pretty darn good while we are doing so!
We are own entity, and we are not restricted to adhering to the rules and regulations of other publications and corporations. If something sounds awkward, then we will word it in a way that is plain and communicative, regardless if it breaks certain organizations’ “newspaper rules.” We answer to our readers, and this is your paper. Our format will continue to change and evolve into what YOU enjoy!
As always, do not forget to check our website and sign up for our daily email blasts; the print edition only has room for a fraction of the news we report and deliver on a daily basis. Go to www.advantagenews.com for more information.
Keep reading AdVantage News, keep giving us your feedback, and keep patronizing our advertisers; they are the ones who keep us coming to your mailbox free of charge!
