We, the Riverbend community, need art.
Art allows us to express ourselves and feed the creative desires that are engrained in our DNA. Art, of all kinds, helps us make sense of the world and the people within it. We need art to inspire our children, to relax us, to drive change, and to feed our souls. We need art to drive innovation, inspire new businesses, and to become more aware of our place on this earth. We need art to fill our ears with beautiful sounds, our eyes with wonder, and our hearts with contentment.
We need art, and we need a place to experience art and witness live performance first-hand.
The Jacoby Arts Center has been open for more than a decade now. As we look to the future, we are excited to bring more amazing performing artists, such as Miss Jubilee and the Humdingers, Paper Slip Improv Theatre, Shoestring Dance and Bankside Rep Theatre Company to the Riverbend area, and to showcase local artists, such as David Coughtry, Matt McGibany, and Alton High and Marquette students. Early in the new year, Jacoby will host a Youth Entrepreneurship Workshop, a professional photographers’ series, School of Folk music classes, and a culinary kitchen project. We will continue to provide a broad and affordable diversity of exhibits, acts, and classes so that everyone in the Riverbend may have the chance to experience the arts.
As 2015 comes to a close, we ask that you consider a tax-deductible donation to the Jacoby Arts Center. To expand our offerings next year and to keep the doors open free to the public, we need to raise $60,000. We can’t do it without your generous support. Another option: for as little as $5 per month, you can become a sustaining member of the Jacoby, which gets you discounts in our gift shop and invitations to special members-only events and programs.
The Riverbend needs art, and Jacoby Arts Center needs you.
