The Salvation Army will be taking Christmas applications from 9-11 a.m. and 1-3 p.m. Oct. 19, 21, 26 and Nov. 2. You will need to bring a picture ID for parent or guardian, proof of income, proof of residency, and Social Security cards for each member of the household. All members in the household must be verified, which may be done with medical cards or birth certificates. You must have all of this information with you in order to fill out an application. There will be no call-backs or faxing of information. All applications must be filled out in person. You cannot apply for another person. You must meet the income guidelines in order to qualify for assistance. Food and toy applications are being taken for families with children 12 years old and younger and food-only applications for households with children over 12 years old.
At select stores in our community, you will soon notice the Salvation Army Angel Trees. If you would like to donate a toy to our toy shop this year, simply grab a tag from our Angel Tree and drop the toy off at the Salvation Army, 525 Alby St. in Alton. Office hours are 9 a.m. to noon and 1-4 p.m. You may call to make arrangements for a different drop-off time if needed. Also, if you are interested in adopting a specific child or children, please call Holly about our “Adopt-A-Family” program at (618) 465-7764.
We would like to thank you in advance for all of your support during the Christmas season.
