Did you guess the restaurant I reviewed last time? It was Reeta Marie’s Country Store at 402 S. Maple St. in Brighton. It is closed on Saturdays but an enjoyable experience every other day of the week. Thanks to the anonymous reader who suggested this quaint eatery and gift shop to us!

This next review is on a place that I have passed at least every week for as long as I can remember. I stopped in a few months ago but it was under renovation, and I thought it was only fair to wait until it was all finished. I was glad I waited.
There is a bar entrance and a restaurant entrance. My companion and I walked into the dining room and saw booth seating, tables and a long counter with seats, but no servers. We seated ourselves under an enormous bright-blue wall decoration shaped like a cup and saucer. After a minute or two, a server bustled out of the kitchen and greeted us, bringing menus, napkins and flatware. She took our drink orders and bustled away. We drank water and my companion added a small cranberry juice.
I decided on a Philly cheesesteak with mac and cheese as my side order; my friend ordered a gyro with coleslaw. It didn’t take long for our food to arrive. My mac and cheese looked a little tired, as though it had been sitting under a heatlamp too long. I hadn’t said a thing about it, when suddenly our server bustled back and whisked it away, replacing it with a fresh serving. She said a new batch had just been made.
My cheesesteak was delicious, seasoned just right. My friend was very pleased with the gyro, but I thought it had too much tzatziki sauce, because it splooshed everywhere. My friend said that the pita bread was too thick, but it tasted great. The slaw had a crisp, vinegar bite, but my mac and cheese was uninspired.
I checked out the restrooms, which were clean and roomy, but alas and alack! The one I used had no toilet paper! Oh, what to do, what to do! Needless to say, I managed the situation and let our server know the next time she bustled by.
For dessert, my friend ordered chocolate cake and I asked for white cake. One doesn’t see white cake offered much anymore. Desserts came with more napkins and clean forks. My cake had a rich, complex taste, with thick buttercream frosting. Very good!
We paid from our table. Our bustling server kept very busy and did not converse. I think she was helping in the kitchen because she would disappear for awhile, then come out when necessary.
Overall – 4 1/2 stars
Service – 4 1/2 stars
Cleanliness – 4 stars
Food – 4 1/2 stars
