The 98th annual Alton Halloween Parade once again provided plenty of thrills, laughs and chances to see neighbors and friends in spooky getups and waving from atop floats. As has become tradition, judges voted for the best floats in a number of different categories.
Orthopedic and Sports Medicine, Dream Home Realty and Woodstock Lounge took the awards for Commercial entries, while MAAGI, the Riverbend Rippers and Renegades football team won in the Clubs and Organizations category. Junior and Senior Youth winners included Cub Scout Pack 101, Alton High School FCCLA, St. Mary’s Middle School, AHS cheerleading, Lucky Horseshoes 4H, and Marquette Catholic High School homecoming. In the Family and Neighbor division, the Uemmons and Wunderlich families won, while the Parrotheads of the Riverbend took first place.
A woman who was struck by a vehicle and injured while crossing Landmarks Boulevard during the parade suffered a minor head injury and is recovering. The driver of the vehicle was ticketed following the accident.
