Thanksgiving is over! As we drive around town after dark we can see many homes decorated with Christmas lights. We can drive through Rock Springs Park and see the beautiful decorations that light up the area. Everywhere we go in this month of December, we will see signs of Christmas. With all this beauty, let us not forget the real meaning of Christmas. We in the Christian community celebrate the birth of Jesus. He is God’s gift to us. We in turn want to give gifts to those we love. It is fine to give gifts, but don’t forget the “reason for the season.”
We also should give gifts of ourselves by being kind to those we meet. When we shop, consider the sales clerk may be tired after working extra hours. We can be kind to that clerk and remember to wish him or her a Merry Christmas. Our mail person has served us all year. We can give that person a Christmas greeting or a small “thank you.” These kinds of gifts usually mean so much. We have a gift that no one else can give ... ourselves!
If God can give us His Son, we should be able to give of ourselves as we approach this wonderful Christmas season.
By the way ... Merry Christmas to all!
