This week’s article is written by Arnie Saaf, a member of Godfrey First United Methodist Church, 1100 Airport Road.
We were visiting our son Michael and family in Albany, Calif., last June, to be there for our granddaughter, Elka’s, graduation from middle school.
At that time her sister, Adi, was taking her final exams as a sophomore in high school. Her last test was in math. When she came home, I asked her how she had done. She said, “There were two questions I couldn’t get, so I wrote ‘God. God is the answer to everything.’”
Wow! What a pearl of wisdom from a teenager! I wonder what her math teacher thought. Perhaps he or she too was impressed and maybe it strengthened his or her own beliefs. It certainly got my attention and encouraged me to also realize this tenet of our faith. I hope that now, whenever I face a challenge, I will remember that God holds the answer and that I just need to talk it over with him.
