EDWARDSVILLE — Madison County Association for Home and Community Education held its annual meeting April 27 at the LeClaire Christian Church.
The business meeting included installation of officers for the 2015-16 calendar with IAHCE President Jane Chapman doing the honors. Forty-eight new members joined HCE this past year. The group recognized 10- to 55-year members, including two 50-year members, Marie Mindrup, Alhambra-Leef; and May Bohnenstiehl, Marine; 55-year members were Lorene Uhe, Alhambra-Leef; Mercelete Kinder, Prairie; and Genevieve Hill, member-at-large.
The Blue Ribbon Clubs were Creative Women, Granite City; Edwardsville B and G.R.O.W., Edwardsville; Prairie, Prairietown and Rox-Ann, Roxana.
University and college scholarships were awarded to Zachery Plocher, Katelyn Fox and Caleb Greenwell for $500 each. Highland Crafters won the traveling gavel award with 10 new members this past year. The day concluded with lunch, a program by the J.O.Y. Chorus and a silent auction.
