The AdVantage News family is expanding once more with the addition of full-time reporter and features writer Diane Cox to the Greater Alton office.
“I like that I am being given the opportunity to bring our communities closer and help people to be more informed on local levels,” Diane says. “Over the years, I have built and worked on relationships that can provide a common bridge to our readers. It feels almost like a job in community service and I enjoy that.”
The self-proclaimed “soccer mom” will continue her coverage of events and city business in the Wood River, East Alton and Bethalto areas while expanding her coverage to assist with the Alton region.
Diane has been providing articles, along with her exceptional photography, to both the news and sports departments for the past several months as an independent contractor. AdVantage News Managing Editor Fred Pollard says she was an obvious choice for the position.
“Over the last year, Diane has become invaluable and is one of AdVantage News’ most outspoken cheerleaders,” Pollard said. “Her excitement and commitment, combined with her positive relationships in the community, make her a great asset to the news team.”
She also opened her own photography studio, CAY Photography, in 2010 and brings her experience with a camera to AdVantage News to help capture “pictures that say a thousand words.”
Diane lives in Wood River with her husband of 15 years, Chlorus, and her children, 16-year-old Brandon and 10-year-old Mackenzie. As a family, she says they enjoy sporting events, music and making one another laugh.
“Our living room is our standup comedy stage,” she says, laughing.
