As part of the Kid’Cation in Alton, “pirates” invaded the National Great Rivers Museum to have a river adventure. Children explored the museum and searched for hidden treasure. Visitors could build and race pirate ships down the outdoor river feature and meet a pirate. Daily locks and dam tours helped visitors explore the facility. For information, visit the National Great Rivers Museum on Facebook. Kid’Cation also offered a display of antique train sets and toys at the Alton Amtrak station. Round-trip train tickets to St. Louis were available. Children could explore the station and talk to volunteers about trains.
