Local NASCAR driver Kenny Wallace has retired from the professional life of racing, trading in his helmet and fire-suit for a suit, tie and microphone as an analyst for the NASCAR racing series. Always remembering where he came from, Wallace gives race fans a rare treat to drive the same type of dirt cars they watch from the stands every weekend at tracks like Tri-City Speedway in Pontoon Beach. Kenny, Mike and Rusty Wallace all cut their racing teeth at Tri-City Speedway in the late 1960s and ’70s. Kenny Wallace still spends a lot of his spare time in a dirt car at a track somewhere in the country but always returns home to Pontoon Beach for several events a year to compete against local drivers.
