Organizers got more than they bargained for Aug. 29 at the inaugural Food Truck Festival, as hordes of people filled the Liberty Bank Alton Amphitheater looking for unique tastes. More than a dozen food trucks quickly depleted their supply as one by one, the trucks sold out of fries, cupcakes, tacos and other delights. Downtown area restaurants then saw an overflow crowd file into their establishments. Sauce Magazine hosted the event, offering trucks from the St. Louis region. Strict county rules prohibit food trucks on a regular basis on this side of the river.
