Members of the Alton High School tennis and golf teams visited the United Methodist Village Oct. 15. Players brought flowers and candy and spent time talking with residents. Many of the Redbird players also had a chance to meet Andy Simpson, whose family is a longtime supporter of athletics in the Alton area. Junior Lucy Phillips said, “It was an awesome experience meeting such a generous supporter of athletics. The courts at Lewis and Clark are great and it was cool meeting Andy and getting to know her.” Freshman Hannah Macias said, “The residents were so nice. They really seemed to enjoy our visit and I love sharing stories with them.” Junior Abby Peipert said, “It feels good to give back and spend time with people who have done a lot for our community. We can’t wait to come back.” Pictured with Andy Simpson (from left): Sam Clayton, Betsey Papin, Lucy Phillips, Abby Scarbrough, Hannah Macias, Abbie Peipert and Addison Gregory.
