The Clark Bridge in Alton.
Lane closures on the Clark Bridge in Alton have been delayed because of weather conditions, an Illinois Department of Transportation engineer said Wednesday.
Supervising Field Engineer John Scheibal said he did not have a definite date for when the lane closures will begin. Shoulder closures likely will start Monday, April 14, he said.
When the work does start, all St. Louis-bound lanes will be open between 6 a.m. and 8 a.m., and all lanes headed to Alton will be open between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. The work is expected to be completed by July 31.
The bridge will remain open for the duration of the project.
Significant delays are expected. Motorists are encouraged to develop and utilize alternate routes during this period. The department asks that motorists be patient, reduce speed, watch for stopped traffic ahead, and use additional caution when traveling near and throughout this work zone.
