A nighttime lane closure will be encountered tonight on Interstate 270 westbound, just west of the Illinois 3 interchange and east of the new Chain of Rocks Canal bridge, according to the Illinois Department of Transportation.
The lane closure will begin at 9 p.m. and will be reopened by 5 a.m. Wednesday morning. The closure is necessary to repair damaged pavement.
Traffic will be guided through the work zone utilizing flaggers, traffic control devices, and traffic control signing. Motorists are asked to use caution while traveling through the work zone.
Illinois 3 lane restrictions
The Illinois Department of Transportation announces northbound Illinois 3 will be reduced from two lanes to one lane on Monday, May 4, from just south of Chain of Rocks Road to just north of I-270, weather permitting.
The one-day lane restriction will begin at 7 a.m. and end by 3 p.m. The restriction is necessary to remove the temporary median crossover.
