JERSEYVILLE - The Jersey County Sheriff's Department lifted its ban on open burning Tuesday.
In an email, Sheriff Mark Kallal asked residents to be aware of wind and weather conditions.
"Always keep an eye on any burning you do, as it can get out of control quickly," Kallal said.
The sheriff's department issued the ban March 24 after three fires the weekend of March 22-23 caused damage.
Wet weather is expected to move in over the next few days, with a 60 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms tonight and an 80 percent chance of precipitation Wednesday.
