Sept. 10 is the tentative opening date for the all-new Ruler Foods in Monticello Plaza.
5771 Godfrey Road, former location of Hoods and the Park ‘N Shop grocery store, will be the home of the discount grocery chain, owned by Kroger. The setup will be similar to Aldi food stores, with a high inventory of Kroger foods, 25-cent deposit for carts and an area for customers to bag their own groceries to keep prices low.
AC, refrigeration businesses find new digs
King Air Conditioning and Heating and Bush Refrigeration have moved into the old Ingram Concrete location at 7020 Ingham Lane.
The owners of both companies, Mike and Karen Edwards, renovated the new space to accommodate both businesses, previously located at 401 Pearl St. and 4539 N. Alby, respectively. Phone numbers will remain the same.
The new building offers more parking, conference area for customers and more space.
Heroin bust nets large cache of drugs
A search warrant for a home in the 6300 block of Lake Drive in Godfrey netted approximately 600 capsules of suspected heroin and drug paraphernalia. Jason C. Wolf, 35, and Lisa M. Wolf, 34, both are facing Class X felony charges with multiple counts of delivery of a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a church.
Following reports that drugs were being sold out of the residence, undercover officers with state police purchased what is alleged to be heroin in July and August.
