ALTON — A town hall meeting Thursday, Oct. 23, will focus on limiting underage drinkers’ access to alcohol.
The meeting from 6-7 p.m. at Alton High School, 4200 Humbert Road, is open to the public. Guest speakers include Madison County State’s Attorney Tom Gibbons, Alton Mayor Brant Walker, Alton Police Chief Jason Simmons, and Madison County Sheriff's Department Deputy Jeremy Dunham. Local youths will talk about data and prevention efforts.
The event, “Walk in Stride, Don’t Provide” is targeted toward parents and guardians in the community. Gibbons will speak about the consequences of providing alcohol to minors.
Alton Refrigeration and Home Furnishings is donating a 32-inch television as a door prize for one attendee, along with other locally sponsored donations from Slackers, Applebee’s and Quality Pontiac.
The town hall meeting is sponsored by the Drug Free Alton Coalition and Chestnut Health Systems.
