ALTON — Argosy Casino Alton announced an e-cycling event from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 3.
The event is open to the public to dispose of metal and old electronic items in an environmentally responsible manner. Items can be dropped off in the lot near the casino entrance Saturday.
Argosy Casino Alton, the first casino to open in Illinois, is inviting residents to bring old computers, fax machines, home electronics, appliances, lawn equipment, holiday lights, old motors, etc. These items will be recycled to prevent them from being dumped in landfills.
“We noticed a few of the surrounding communities have had great success with these events and we decided to offer one here in Alton,” Argosy General Manager Joelle Shearin said.
Due to regulations, items that cannot be taken are radioactive materials, hazardous materials and explosives. A small fee may be associated with TV disposal, depending on size. In the event a fee is charged, Argosy Alton will issue dining coupons valid for use in their Captain’s Table buffet or their new restaurant, Journey. “Argosy has a long tradition of strong community partnership; we feel this is a real opportunity for the community to pull together and reduce our environmental impact,” Shearin said.
