State Rep. Dan Beiser, D-Alton, addresses students at East Alton-Wood River High School earlier this week.
ALTON — State Rep. Dan Beiser, D-Alton, visited with students at East Alton-Wood River High School earlier this week and provided them with a legislative update from Springfield.
“Everything we do in Springfield, from the budget to legislation that is passed, affects students in our community,” Beiser said. “Over the past several years we have tried to make it easier for them to become engaged in government, including giving 17-year-olds the right to vote in primary elections if they are going to be 18 years old at the time of the general election. We talked about ways they can become more involved in their government, such as contacting their local elected officials. I know I look forward to hearing from them soon.”
