Hope Animal Rescues will hold its first Doggie Dash & Dawdle .1K at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 7.
The run, which is approximately one city block, starts at the Caboose in downtown O’Fallon, Ill., and ends at Mandy’s Bar, 108 E. State St. Participants can walk, dance, jump, skip, do the bunny hop, electric slide or roll across the finish line.
Mandy’s Bar and Club Paws Inc. in Alton are sponsoring this micro-run to help homeless dogs residing at Hope Animal Rescues, a nonprofit dog rescue that has saved more than 2,500 dogs in the past 10 years. Hope Animal Rescues pulls dogs on their last day of life from animal controls and cares for them until they can find them a home.
Participants receive an official shirt and a 0.1k race sticker.
The event will feature craziest costume prizes, a raffle, silent auction and food at Mandy’s Bar.
Registration fees are $30 ($35 on race day). Participants can sign up at Active.com or pick up paper forms at Mandy’s Bar.
