The Illinois Department of Transportation announces that daytime single-lane closures will be encountered on westbound and eastbound Interstate 55/64 from the Poplar Street Bridge to and including the 13th Street/Tudor Avenue ramps.
Left and right lanes of I-55/64 and the 13th Street/Tudor Avenue ramps will be alternately closed, one at a time, to conduct required deck inspections on the bridges carrying these routes beginning Monday, Feb. 15. A minimum of one lane of traffic in each direction will be maintained during the lane restrictions. The lane restrictions will extend through Friday, Feb. 19. All lanes will be opened back up to traffic on eastbound on I-55/64 between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. All lanes will be opened back up to traffic on westbound I-55/64 between 6 a.m. and 9 a.m.
Significant traffic delays are anticipated; motorists are encouraged to consider alternate routes.
Traffic control devices will be utilized to assist motorists making their way through the work zone. The department asks motorists to be patient and use additional caution when traveling near and through work zones.
