The Illinois Department of Transportation announces the re-opening of the Brussels and Kampsville ferries across the Illinois River.
The Brussels ferry will open Tuesday, Feb. 25, at 4 p.m. The Kampsville ferry re-opened at 10 a.m. Tuesday.
As significant ice remains upstream and cold weather is forecast over the next several days, ferry users should expect intermittent closures may occur until river conditions improve to allow for the continuous operation of the ferry service. Motorists should consider the Hardin Bridge for access to Calhoun County during these periods.
Since occasional service disruptions are possible, travelers are advised to consider alternate routes and allow additional time for travel around this area. Motorists are urged to be patient, reduce speed and exercise added caution throughout this area, as traffic patterns and travel times likely will be affected.
IDOT's website,www.stl-traffic.org/, has the latest information on road closures.
