The Board of Directors of Alton Day Care and Leaning Center celebrated its 45th anniversary with a family fun event and the announcement of the center’s new name, the Kreative Kids Learning Center.
“I love our new name,” Board President Ellen Saville said. “I am so proud of our staff and quality work they do. At Kreative Kids Learning Center, children always come first. Our board wants quality child care to be accessible and affordable to all working families. We enthusiastically look forward to making a difference one child at a time.”
More than 200 children and adults participated in the Nov. 7 event. Children were treated to a magic show performed by local magician Chris Carpunky, a meet and greet with competitive food eater Kyle Hanner and an Iron Chef competition, creating children’s snacks from ingredients in mystery baskets. In addition to the entertainment, the staff entertained children and their parents with arts and crafts activities, interactive games, science experiments and creative projects.
Winners in the anniversary coloring contest were (in the under age 5 group) Ellie Hanebutt, first; Carter Hanebutt, second; and Mariah McDaniel, third. Winners in the ages 6-8 group were Gabriel Futhey, first; Jaelynn Pruitt, second; and Kyleigh Winchester, third. Winners in the ages 9 and above group were Ida Carroll, first, Aereal Flanagan-Harris, second; and Aisha Blackmon, third.
The board’s decision to refresh the center’s image reflects an emphasis on quality service. It is recognized as a Gold Circle of Quality Center by Excelerate Illinois, the state’s Quality Rating System for child care providers.
Other changes include a new interactive website, www.kreativekidsadc.com, a presence on Facebook, and a new scholarship program to help middle-income families gain access to quality care for their children.
Kreative Kids Learning Center is a partner with the United Way of Greater St. Louis and committed to community partners including the RiverBend Growth Association, the North Alton/Godfrey Business Council and human service network of agencies.
